Modern Cataract Surgery

Value Added Center for Phacoemulsification Services in Nagpur and Central India

Cataract is important for the largest number of patients with decreased eye sight. Several advances have  taken place in the management of Cataract.  The most important being the  development of phacoemulsification and Foldable lens implantation. This technology has changes the paradigms of management of cataract dramatically while raising the technological and skill threshold required to provide exceptional results.

The Institute has a very fine and exceptionally well equipped operating room with Leica and Zeiss operating microscopes and the Bausch and Lomb Millenium phacoemulsification and vitrectomy machine with the custom software and the co axial micro incisional phacoemulsification sofware installed.

MICRO INCISIONAL PHACOEMULSIFATION

The Institute is pleased to announce that besides  routine phacoemulsification it has moved to provide 2.2 mm. micro incisional phacoemulsification surgery.  This technique reduces the surgically induced astigmatism even further in the quest to do ‘astigmatic neutral’ phacoemulsificaition surgery. This raises the bar even further for our demanding patients who have exceptional needs and want only the very best of technology and skills.

Premium Lenses:

The Institute uses only the best of the lenses, including those from Alcon, Zeiss and Rayner. In addition it offers ‘Premium” lenses to its patients.

Alcon  Toric Lens:  This lens is used to neutralise the pre-existing astigmatism. Astigmatism is basically a difference in the curvature or power of the cornea in two different meridians. Its neutralisation during surgery will enable better post surgical vision.

Alcon ReStor Multifocal lens:  This lens is used for those  who wish to have the ability to see for near, middle distance and for distance.  It enables  one to have a 70-90% spectacle free post surgical  result. The efficacy is best when both eyes have the multifocal lens placed  at surgery.

Zeiss ZO  Aspheric  Lens:  This lens is a high quality monofocal aspheric lens to reduce the spherical aberrations of the   light rays passing through the lens. It comes in a self loaded injector and avoids the use of external handling or touching.

Zeiss  Acrisert: This is  aspheric small incision lens for microincisional cataract Surgery.  The lens can be inserted easily through a sub 2.2 mm. incision.

Zeiss Acrilisa Multifocal Lens: This lens is a diffractive multifocal lens and can be used even with microincisional phacoemulsification  since it can be inserted through a sub 2.2 mm. incision.

Rayner Pseudophakic Piggyback Lens (Sulcoflex).  This is a new concept lens and can be placed in an eye that has already undergone surgery  and lens implantation.  It can correct any remaining refractive error and astigmatism.

Rayner Multifocal Lens.  This is an acrylic hydrophilic lens that will serve the purpose of distant and near vision following cataract surgery thus reducing the need for wearing glasses after surgery.

Multifocal Lenses:

These are  becoming rapidly  very popular  and it is estimated that over the next 3 years almost everyone coming to the eye clinic for surgery will have a wish list of being able to see for near, middle distance and far distance without the use of  spectacle lens after undergoing cataract surgery.  The Suraj Eye Institute has significant  experience in the use of these  lenses.  If you feel you would like to have these lenses  when you have your cataract surgery done, feel free to ask  your doctor at the Suraj Eye Institute.
