Marathi: मेडिकल रेटिना (पडद्याचे आजार)
The retina is the delicate, light-sensing layer at the back of the eye — like the film in a camera. Medical retina is the care of retinal diseases treated with medication, injections and laser, rather than with major surgery. Many of these conditions develop silently and can quietly steal central vision, which is why timely diagnosis and treatment are so important. At Suraj Eye Institute, our retina service combines advanced imaging with modern, evidence-based treatment.
Conditions We Treat
Diabetic retinopathy
Diabetes-related damage to the retina — a leading cause of vision loss in working-age adults.
Macular degeneration (AMD)
Age-related damage to the central retina that blurs reading and fine vision.
Retinal vein occlusion
A “blockage” in the retinal circulation causing sudden swelling and blurring.
Macular edema
Fluid build-up at the macula from diabetes, vein occlusion or inflammation.
Diagnosis & Treatment
We use high-resolution OCT scanning, fundus photography and angiography to detect and monitor disease precisely. Treatments include intravitreal injections (anti-VEGF and steroids) to control bleeding and swelling, and retinal laser to seal leaking or abnormal vessels. Most medical-retina conditions are managed best when caught early — regular screening, especially for people with diabetes, protects sight.
