Train to become a confident, independent eye surgeon
A three-year DNB Ophthalmology residency at Suraj Eye Institute — a DNB training centre of the National Board since 2007, with two campuses in Nagpur, subspecialty consultants in every field and more than 30 years of research behind every clinic.

The residency that makes you a complete ophthalmologist
You will see the full range of eye disease of Central India, operate under close supervision from early on, and learn in a hospital where research and teaching are part of every day.
Graded surgical training
Our Fast-Trac Safe Surgery Training, introduced in 2014, takes you step by step through surgery so that you finish your three years as a safe, experienced ophthalmic surgeon.
Every subspecialty under one roof
Glaucoma, cataract, cornea and eye bank, medical and surgical retina, paediatric ophthalmology and squint, refractive surgery (ICL) and a 24×7 eye emergency service.
Our services →Research from day one
Research is a routine part of the curriculum. You work with a team that has 218 peer-reviewed publications, including the Central India Eye and Medical Study and the Global Burden of Disease studies.
Our research →Mentored by subspecialists

Our consultants →A real academic culture

Three seats a year, two campuses, every subspecialty
Hands-on from the start, under supervision
Residents learn in our operating theatres at both campuses, progressing from assisting to operating under the supervision of a consultant.
A structured week of learning
Teaching runs alongside clinics and surgery throughout the week — case presentations, seminars and journal clubs, surgical teaching in the operating theatre, and dedicated time for your DNB thesis and research.
